Test Maturity Model Integration

The Test Maturity Model Integration (TMMi) is a framework designed to assess an organisation’s maturity level in its software testing processes based on five distinct stages.

Five Stages:

  • Initial Stage (Level 1): Processes are ad hoc; no formalised practices exist.
  • Managed Stage (Level 2): Basic practices are established; some level of documentation exists but lacks consistency across projects.
  • Defined Stage (Level 3): Processes are standardised across projects; documentation is comprehensive; best practices are shared among teams.
  • Measured Stage (Level 4): Quantitative metrics guide decision-making; performance is monitored continuously; improvements are data-driven.
  • Optimising Stage (Level 5): Continuous improvement initiatives are in place; innovative practices are adopted regularly based on feedback from stakeholders.

Organisations use TMMi as part of their strategy for enhancing their overall quality assurance capabilities by identifying gaps within current processes while providing actionable recommendations tailored towards achieving higher levels within this structured framework.
